Letter: Social justice

To the editor:

I imagine I was not the only one who felt assaulted when reading the front page of the Journal-World last Thursday. Guns in cars? Disrespect for the university that produces amazing leaders and thinkers whose work benefits so many in Kansas and around the world? Religious tyranny packaged as “freedom”? Dangerously oppressive regulation of citizens’ constitutional right to speak freely?

When assaults like those meted out by our legislators and policymakers to Kansans and to the many people who live and embrace the diversity that enriches this state, I think of the one question that reminds me of the power of mutual respect and concern for social and human justice: WWLD?  What Would Loring (Henderson) Do?
