Lawrence woman sentenced to 32 months in prison for robbery

The third of three co-defendants in a summer home-invasion robbery in Lawrence was sentenced Monday for her involvement in the crime.

Douglas County District Judge Sally Pokorny sentenced Amber Baker, 24, of Lawrence, to 32 months in prison after Baker pleaded guilty to robbery in November.

Darvon Thomas, 19, and Darnell Warfield Jr., 25, both of Leavenworth, and Baker robbed a home in the 3000 block of Havrone Way on Aug. 5, according to court documents.

Victims told police the three went to the home to buy marijuana, but pulled guns on the home’s occupants, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley said in August. They then took an undisclosed amount of money and drugs, McKinley said.

At the Monday sentencing, Baker said the act was a “stupid mistake.”

“I’m actually kind of glad it all stopped here,” Baker told Pokorny. “I accept whatever I’m going to get for the mistake that I made.”

Baker will receive credit for 91 days she’s served in custody. She will have to register as a violent offender for 15 years after she serves her prison time.

Pokorny sentenced Warfield to 31 months in prison and Thomas to 36 months in prison for their involvement in the crime.
