A man who was taken by air ambulance to Kansas University Hospital Monday night after being struck by a vehicle near Ninth Street and Emery Road remained in critical condition Tuesday, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley said.

Lawrence police responded to a call of a single car vs. pedestrian accident in the 1500 block of Ninth Street around 7:45 p.m. Monday.

After arriving, first responders located the pedestrian’s injuries and requested Life Star transportation, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical spokesperson Justin Temple said Monday.

McKinley said he would release the names of the driver and victim when they become available.
