A 23-year-old Lawrence woman charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with an August disturbance when she allegedly hit another woman with a brandy bottle was arrested Monday on suspicion of six new charges.

Keshia Elizabeth Falcon was booked into the Douglas County Jail Monday morning on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, drug and drug paraphernalia possession, obstruction of the legal process and fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement.

Falcon is currently charged in connection with an Aug. 5 disturbance in which she allegedly hit another woman on the head with a brandy bottle and cut her with an unknown object. According to the affidavit for Falcon’s arrest, the victim told police that after Falcon struck her with the bottle, Falcon said, “That’s what you get,” and left. The crime allegedly occurred in the victim’s apartment.

McKinley said her latest arrest is in connection to a lengthy car chase Friday in Lawrence when shortly after 11 a.m. an officer saw Falcon driving on Iowa Street and knew she was wanted. In October, Douglas County District Judge Jack Murphy issued a warrant for Falcon’s arrest after she failed to appear in court for a hearing on her aggravated battery case.

The officer stopped Falcon near Iowa Street and the Kansas Highway 10 bypass, and as the officer approached her, Falcon “made movements for something under that seat” and was ordered to “put her hands up,” McKinley said.

Falcon was then asked to put her hands out the window, but as the officer attempted to arrest Falcon, “she put the car in gear and sped away,” McKinley said. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper and the police officer chased after Falcon, but the officer was advised to discontinue the pursuit “based on the speed of the vehicle and other concerns,” McKinley said.

The trooper and additional KHP units pursued Falcon for about 45 minutes, McKinley said, until her vehicle crashed near Interstate 35 and Sunflower Road in Johnson County. Falcon was then taken to a Johnson County hospital for treatment and transported to jail Monday, McKinley said.

Falcon is being held in the Douglas County Jail without bond.
