Letter: Best friends
To the editor:
This is a thank-you to everyone who helped rescue dogs from the Christal K-9 kennel fire on Saturday. I had two dogs there: beloved old boy, Bentley, who died Sunday night, and younger dog, Zebulon, who is in critical condition in intensive care.
But no dogs would have survived without firefighters from station 3, clients at Jazzercise next door, local veterinarians. I am told that people driving by stopped to help. Staff from the Lawrence Humane Society and city animal control were involved.
It is said that dogs give unconditional love. In this case, the people involved deserved it.
