Three injured in Lawrence traffic accident Friday night

Police are investigating a traffic accident that left three people injured Friday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Atchison Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Damon Thomas.

Reports reveal a Honda was traveling southbound on Atchison Avenue, making a left turn onto Clinton Parkway, when it was struck by a Volvo driving westbound on Clinton Parkway.

The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene, Thomas said. The front-seat passenger suffered wounds on his head and back, and the rear-seat passenger suffered a broken pelvis. Both passengers were transported to Kansas City-area hospitals, though only the front-seat passenger remained hospitalized as of 5:30 p.m. Saturday. All three were 21-year-old men, Damon said.

The driver of the Volvo, a 15-year-old girl, received a minor injury and was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she has since been released.

No citations have been issued yet.
