A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Lawrence on suspicion of more than a dozen sex crimes with a juvenile under the age of 14, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Trent McKinley said.

The man was taken into custody about 12:30 p.m. Thursday following a police interview. McKinley said the victim and suspect were known to each other and engaged in a “few-week-long” relationship.

During that time, the two allegedly had unlawful sexual contact on several occasions in a residence in southeast Lawrence, McKinley said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of charges including rape and sodomy of the victim, McKinley said.
