The upper road across Clinton Dam is closed as the Lawrence Police Department investigates an injury accident that occurred just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Steve Lewis, spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, said one driver was injured and taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after striking a Douglas County Sheriff’s vehicle Wednesday afternoon. The deputy did not appear to be injured, Lewis said.

Lewis said the road will remained closed for “an hour or more” as the investigation continues. The lower dam road that passes Eagle Bend golf course is still open.
