Letter: Voting access

To the editor:

It is widely reported that Kris Kobach said that no “legitimate” church opposed his programs that limit access to the polls. We are not sure what he thinks a legitimate church is, but the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) have been a part of the fabric of this country since its earliest days. We have been involved in many efforts for voting equality.

Certainly the members of Oread Friends Meeting in Lawrence oppose any laws that create difficulties in access to the basic right of voting. We hope that all those of good will, whether people of faith or not, join us in opposing any efforts that limit access to voting.
