Letter: Lost favorites
To the editor:
“Guess what’s closing now,” my mother asked Tuesday morning, before I saw the newspaper.
What now? I’m still mourning the loss of Penny Annie’s, Sunrise Gardens, Godfather’s Pizza, The Town Crier, Ben Franklin … and did I say Penny Annie’s?
“Buffalo Bob’s,” she said.
No more Owner’s Special. No more Smokey Joe. No more Brownie points to share. No more onion rings. No more Family Dinner with an extra order of ribs for a Saturday night supper at home.
I’ve never left, but somehow I don’t recognize my hometown any more. There aren’t many places left that we love to go.
So, what do you want for your last meal?
