Letter: Health exchange stats

To the editor:

In my opinion, the Scott Rothschild story of Sept. 3, and especially the headline and subheadline, are extremely misleading. It makes it seem that many states with GOP governors are setting up state-run health insurance exchanges.

Here are the numbers, according to the Kaiser Institute: The number of states setting up their own exchanges is 17. Of these 17 states, 14 have Democratic governors and three have Republican governors. The number of states opting out of setting up their own exchanges is 27. Of these 27 states, 24 have Republican governors and three have Democratic governors.

You be the judge.
