Lawrence police investigating hit-and-run

Lawrence police are looking for a black truck following a hit-and-run accident that left at least two people with minor injuries.

The truck failed to yield at the intersection of Harper and 17th Street and struck a small car, Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesperson said. When the driver of the first vehicle was told the occupants of the car were injured, she fled the scene, he said. Scanner traffic described the injured occupants as a 20-year-old pregnant woman and a 13-year-old boy. The drive was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. McKinley could not confirm her condition.

The vehicle is described as a small, black, possibly mid-1990s truck with front-end damage and leaking coolant. McKinley described the woman as brown-haired with a bun or pony tail.
