Leavenworth ? Lawrence High’s girls tennis team defeated Leavenworth 3-1, Shawnee Mission Northwest 4-0 and Gardner-Edgerton 4-0 on Thursday.

Whitney Simons, Erin Ventura and Kendall Pritchard each went 2-0 in singles matches. Katie Gaches-Caroline Baloga and Yelena Birt-Natalie Cote went 2-0 in doubles.

“It’s a great way to start the season,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “We took nine girls, we used different lineups and were successful with each one. Overall, it was a very good day.”
