To the editor:

Many thanks to the League of Women Voters members who invested personal effort in organizing and sitting outside of Checkers and the local public library last week, registering voters and dispensing voting-related information in observance of National Voter Registration Day.

Every voter counts!  I know many many people are also grateful for the League’s web site (www.lawrenceleague.com) which offers free, bipartisan candidate and issue information before elections.  Registering AND educating voters is the most basic foundation needed to assure the successful continuation of our democracy. Even the most contentious political party officials & members can agree on that!

Hat’s off to the League volunteers. Nicely done!
