A 67-year-old Ozawkie woman is in serious condition after a Thursday evening crash on Kansas Highway 10.

Ruby C. Tavis was taken to Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., Thursday and was in serious condition on Friday after her 2001 Dodge Caravan was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram as she and a passenger traveled westbound on K-10.

The collision occurred at 7:19 p.m. near East 1200 Road after the driver of the Ram, Cody W. Bruce, 23, of Lawrence, failed to yield the right of way while attempting to cross K-10, according to a Kansas Highway Control crash report.

An occupant of the Caravan, 33-year-old Sonya Rene Tavis, also of Ozawkie, was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. On Friday, Sonya Tavis' condition was upgraded to fair and she was scheduled to be released.

According to the highway patrol, only Ruby Tavis was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
