Barbecue contest to be held Saturday in McLouth
The McLouth Barbecue Blowout, the northeast Kansas Barbecue Championship, will continue Saturday at the Stan Braksick Sports Complex in McLouth.
A pancake and biscuits and gravy breakfast will start the event at 7 a.m. The barbecue contest, which is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, will begin with sampling at 9 a.m. About 40 teams will be competing for trophies and prize money.
There also will be a 5K run, a pie-baking contest, a motorcycle show, a petting zoo, pony rides, children’s rides, a helicopter landing, a demonstration from the Jayhawk Model Masters and a firefighter demonstration throughout the day.
There are no admission or parking costs.
