Letter: Grad event

To the editor:

On May 22, another successful Project Graduation event was held. This event was created approximately 12 years ago as an after-graduation event for all of Lawrence’s seniors to celebrate in a safe, alcohol-free, drug-free environment.

The working committee of this year’s event would like to thank everyone for their assistance with this year’s event. From the donation of a car to be given away from Laird Noller, the donation of the cost of the venue from the Dolph Simons Family Fund, printing costs underwritten by Printing Solutions, a scholarship from The World Company and numerous other businesses making cash and prize donations, the Lawrence community was able to provide this celebration for the graduates of our four high schools: Veritas Christian School, Bishop Seabury Academy, Lawrence High School and Free State High School.

We would also like to thank the many parent volunteers who worked for several months in planning the event and working the night/morning of the event. Thank you also to the staff of Abe & Jake’s for being so easy to work with in organizing the event.

As our graduates now venture into the next chapter of their lives, it is great that one of their final high school memories was the evening of May 22. It truly took the entire Lawrence community to create this memory. Thank you.
