The boys golf teams from both Free State and Lawrence high schools will begin chasing a Class 6A state championship this morning at Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club in Prairie Village, where the Firebirds and Lions will have to contend with the likes of defending champion Blue Valley North, Dodge City, Washburn Rural, Shawnee Mission East and others.

Free State’s Wilson Hack, Alex Green, Matt Siler, Max Soto, Jack Flynn and Hunter Dedloff, and Lawrence’s Brett Van Blaricum, Brad Strauss, Cole Cummins, Tucker Sutter, Narito Mendez and Brent Cawhee will be among the 92 golfers competing.

Play begins at Holes No. 1 and 10, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
