Letter: Capital flight

I cannot contain my disgust at the sight, in a CNN report, of lawmakers fleeing Washington, D.C., just before last week’s sequester deadline when they should be working on the financial affairs of the country. We send these elected officials to the national capital to do the business of the country, but we get this deplorable childish behavior. We vote for these “candidates” with the expectation that they will work together to do the business of the country. But, no, it has to be “my way or the highway.”

They squabble like kindergartners. And with this serious budget problem looming, they flee like scared rabbits from the place where they should be doing the public’s business.

I think the whole lot of them should be impeached for failing to perform and delegated to the dust bin of history for massive failure to perform their elected duties for the American public.
