Letter: Spirit lacking

To the editor:

Abraham Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address ... “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

When did our government, both state and national, become a government of the politician, by the politician, for the politician — thus the perishing of the government of all of the people. Where is the spirit of God’s love in their decision-making?

Every politician we elect -- local, state, federal -- as well as the candidates who didn't garner enough votes to win their election bid, each has his or her own personal spirituality in varying degrees and at various times. Like everybody.

Is there a certain political decision-making process, event or trend that you object to? Has something in particular motivated you to write this letter? If so, please specify; there are plenty folks available here whose outlooks on political and spiritual matters cover just about every angle imaginable, and who'd be happy to post comments and/or offer advice that might help solve the problem.

Soliciting their opinions is as much fun as tossing a pork chop into a kennel full of hungry Rottweilers.

Sam Brownback was also the largest spender....... by far in spite of his name recognition.

Why do voters consistently vote out the lowest spending candidates? Could be the best candidates with the smallest access to money are not seeing vote support which does not encourage them to run.
