Lawrence school district names new director of facilities and operations

Antonio “Tony” Barron has been named the new director of facilities and operations for the Lawrence school district.

Barron is currently a forester with the city of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department. He will start his new job with the school district July 22, pending approval by the school board.

Barron previously managed the construction and operation of sports facilities for the city of Winfield. He also worked as a lead supervisor for Kansas State Athletics and Country Stampede in Manhattan.

“Tony brings strong interpersonal and leadership skills to the district and has successful supervisory experience in the areas of personnel, construction, facilities, planning, maintenance and financial management,” assistant superintendent Kyle Hayden said in a statement.

Barron will succeed Tom Bracciano, who is retiring after 30 years with the school district.
