Third candidate files for school board seat

Kristie Adair filed paperwork Thursday to run for a seat on the Lawrence school board.

Adair, 39, Lawrence, and her husband, Joshua Montgomery co-own Community Wireless Communications, a local company that provides broadband wireless internet service under the name Wicked Broadband. She also writes a blog about letting children help with cooking.

“I have a passion for education,” Adair said when asked why she chose to run.

A native of Tulsa, Okla., Adair worked for two years as a paraeducator in Tulsa at a school for English language learners. After moving to Lawrence in 2005, she worked in the prekindergarten program at the former East Heights Early Childhood Family Center. She and her husband have two daughters.

Adair is the third candidate to file for the Lawrence school board. Three seats are up for election this year. The other candidates are Vanessa Sanburn, the current board president, and incumbent Bob Byers. Incumbent Mark Bradford has not filed for re-election.

The filing deadline is noon Tuesday.
