Organizers of Chairs for Children event in Lawrence hope to raise at least $25,000

Organizers of a Lawrence charity event called Chairs for Children hope to raise at least $25,000.

The event is hosted by tiny-k Early Intervention, which is celebrating 20 years of providing support and resources to Douglas County families and children.

“The community’s support of Chairs for Children will help ensure all families have access to free, comprehensive developmental care for their children,” Sarah North, the director of resource development, said. “But in addition to the essential therapy provided by our team of experts, tiny-k provides strength and hope to families during their most challenging times.”

Chairs for Children will be held at the Oread Hotel, 1200 Oread Ave., on Feb. 9. Cocktail hour is at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7:30 p.m. The event will consist of food, an open bar, and chair-themed auctions. The live auction items are three to five large items valued at $500 and more. There will also be tickets to sporting events. The silent auction items are 15 to 20 packages valued between $150 and $500, such as the “Reading Nook” package, which includes an e-reader and blanket rather than an actual chair.

Tiny-k is also accepting donations for the “chairity” event. Donation forms can be found at douglascountytinyk.org. Tickets are also available at the website. One ticket costs $60, two tickets are $100, and a table for 10 is $500.
