To the editor:

During this past weekend, I received numerous compliments from our residents about how well the snow was removed from our city streets. In all cases, they asked me to convey this expression of gratitude to the city employees who worked tirelessly to accomplish this task and thank them for the safety they provided us.

So, here it is: “Thank you to all public works employees, our parks employees who helped out public works, our sanitation workers who fought the snow, our first responders and all staff and others (many contract workers) who performed their job meritoriously! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

“Your accomplishment was no easy task in that you cleared 835 lane miles of roadway, multiple intersections, crosswalks and parking lots, and completely removed all the snow from downtown resulting in the movement of more than 44 million cubic feet of snow!

“Once again, from all of us, ‘Thank you!’”

Yes, congratulations to those who cleaned up Lawrence during the first snow. Too many self centered people don't appreciate all the work that it takes to keep Lawrence safe and traffice passable during inclement weather.

Thanks is kinda a small word for all the great work by our CITY CREW, can't think of a better wording. Mayor Bob, think a Log or Wheel with curly fries is on the city crew lunch list, with a no charge ticket.

I think the employees would be better off keeping it to a thanks vis a vis Schumm. The food he serves is abysmally bad.
