KU, Lawrence schools closed; a list of other closings, cancellations for Tuesday

Here’s a list of closings and cancellations for Tuesday because of the winter storm. If you have a closing to report, send an email to us.

Schools

• Baker University canceled daytime and evening classes at its school of nursing in Topeka and its main campus in Baldwin City.

• Baldwin City school district has canceled classes.

• Basehor-Linwood school district has canceled classes.

• Bishop Seabury Academy has canceled classes.

• Building Blocks Daycare Center has canceled classes.

• Century School has canceled classes.

• Eudora school district has canceled classes.

• Googols of Learning Child Development Center is closed.

• Haskell Indian Nations University has canceled classes. Offices are closed.

• Hilltop Child Development Center is closed.

• Kansas University has canceled classes for both Lawrence and Edwards Campuses. Only weather essential personnel are expected to report for work.

• KinderCare is closed.

• Langston Hughes Elementary School has rescheduled its annual Pancake Feed and Book Fair to Thursday.

• Lawrence school district has canceled classes.

• Lawrence Montessori School has canceled classes.

• McLouth school district canceled classes.

• Oskaloosa School District has canceled classes.

• Ottawa school district has canceled classes.

• Perry-Lecompton school district has canceled classes.

• Prairie Moon Waldorf School has canceled classes.

• Raintree Montessori School has canceled classes.

• Tonganoxie school district has canceled classes.

• Santa Fe Trail school district has canceled classes.

• Veritas Christian School has canceled classes.

Agencies/offices/other

• Lawrence city offices are closed. However, the Lawrence City Commission will meet Tuesday night.

• The Public Incentives Review Committee meeting is canceled.

• Lawrence Public Library is closed.

• The city transit system — The T — will delay its start until 9 a.m. Previously scheduled trips on T-Lift will be provided, but passengers should seriously consider not traveling unless absolutely necessary, city officials said.

• The Plymouth Language Program is canceled Tuesday night.

• State driver licensing office is closed.

• Haskell Health Center is closed.

• Health Care Access is closed.

• The Lawrence Arts Center is closed and all classes are canceled.

• Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center.

• Heartland Community Health Center closed

• Independence Inc. is closed.

• Douglas County Senior Services will be closed.

• Douglas County CASA office is closed.

• Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department is closed.

• The Lawrence Municipal Court will continue Tuesday’s cases. Defendants who are represented by counsel are asked to check with their attorneys to determine whether their cases have been moved to a different date.

• Daytime and evening Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s classes, programs, practices and sports-related activities are canceled. All facilities used as voting sites will remain open for voting only, as scheduled. The Administrative Offices in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St., will be open.

• Deffenbaugh will not collect recycling in Lawrence.

• Douglas County offices, except election staff and essential weather and public safety staff.

• Community Transitions of Care Forum at Lawrence Memorial Hospital has been rescheduled to 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 5.

• Just Foods food bank will be closed.

• Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority will be closed.

• The Douglas County District Court will be closed. Anyone who had a hearing scheduled for Tuesday should contact his or her attorney or court offices as soon as possible to reschedule.

• The Kansas Legislature will delay Tuesday’s start by two hours. No decision will be made tonight whether to shut down completely because Topeka appears to be on the edge of heavy snow.

• Community Living Opportunities’ Center is closed. And CLO’s Curbside Recycling route has been canceled.

• Cottonwood Inc. is closed.

• Salvation Army is closed.

• Lawrence Breakfast Optimists 7 a.m. breakfast canceled.

• Tonganoxie city offices are closed.

• The Buried Life, sponsored by Student Union Activities, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. March 12.

• Lawrence Massage has canceled its Tuesday open house.

• Meadowlark Music Together is canceled.

• Allen Press Inc. is closed.
