To the editor:

I am replying to the Feb. 15 Journal-World article “Bill targeting sexually oriented business.” Statements by conservatives such as Steve Brunk of Wichita were a collection of false accusations and fabrications. They associate criminal activity with clubs that feature semi-nude dancers. If a club has a history of crime and violence, the city will close it down, as has been the case in Lawrence several times in the past.

The real agenda of these people is to force their religious values and morals on those who don’t agree with them. Their agenda is to drive all these clubs out of business. If you don’t approve of such clubs just don’t frequent them, simple as that. We don’t need any more regulation. Cities can monitor the activities of such clubs and decide to continue with their license if they are continually out of line.

This is true hypocrisy. The same Republicans who are continually ranting about more regulation are not above using the same regulation to achieve their agenda, which is to dictate their moral values to others. It seems to me the Kansas Legislature has a lot more important issues to deal with, including school funding and bringing jobs to Kansas. This bill would put people on the unemployment rolls! What freedoms will right-wing conservatives attack next?
