— Texas hit its first 10 field-goal tries and shot a scorching 76 percent from the floor in the first half and cruised to a 93-83 victory over Kansas University in Big 12 women’s basketball on Wednesday.

UT never trailed and built a double-digit lead in the first five minutes. The 93 points were the most UT had scored against KU in Big 12 play.

“We dug ourselves in such a hole in the first half. (Texas) had easy shots, which was inexcusable, and they had us on our heels,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We didn’t play well defensively and didn’t show any pop, which is really disappointing. In this league you have to be ready to play.”

Though the Longhorns (10-15 overall, 3-11 Big 12) cooled off to 52.2-percent shooting in the second half, they led by as many as 20.

Angel Goodrich played all 40 minutes for KU (15-9, 6-7) and scored a career-best 31 points, with six assists and six turnovers, and Carolyn Davis added 23 points and eight rebounds.

Goodrich was 10-for-19 from the floor, 5-for-10 from three-point range and 6-for-6 on free throws. Davis was 9-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-7 on free throws.

Kansas, whistled for 25 fouls to Texas’ 12, was outscored by 14 from the free-throw line.

Chassidy Fussell led Texas with 26 points on 10-for-12 shooting, including 4-for-5 shooting from three. Imani McGee-Stafford (18 points), Nneka Enemkpali (15), Empress Davenport (13) and Brady Sanders (11) also scored in double figures for the Longhorns.

KU will host Texas Tech at noon Sunday.
