The Journal-World sports section earned a rare Triple Crown — and more — from the Associated Press Sports Editors in their annual contest, the results of which were announced Wednesday.
The J-W sports section was named in the top 10 national newspapers with circulations under 30,000 in all three categories of daily sections, Sunday sections and special sections.
In addition, Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan earned a top-10 award for sports column writing.

I think one of Tom's strengths is his ability to recognize and hire talented, hardworking and knowledgeable staff. While our local newspaper is far from perfect, it has a come a long way since the times when it was frequently referred to as the "Urinal World." I don't mean to disparage his predecessor, Chuck Woodling, whom I thought put out a great sports section for a newspaper of its size.
