Indiana man charged in Douglas County with six felony counts of soliciting a minor for sex

A 35-year-old Fort Wayne, Ind., man has been charged with six felony sex crimes involving the solicitation of a minor for sex.

The man was arrested in Lawrence Monday morning and appeared in Douglas County Court via video Tuesday from Douglas County Jail. He remains in jail on a $175,000 bond, charged with two counts of electronic solicitation of a child under the age of 14. The other four counts apply to cases in which the minor was between the ages of 14 and 16. The prosecutors say the alleged offense occurred between February 2012 and April 2012.

The state law against electronic solicitation of sex with minors includes the use of email, text messaging and similar means of communication. A conviction on one of the more serious counts could carry as many as 54 years in prison.
