Indiana man arrested on suspicion of soliciting sex with child by electronic communications
A 35-year-old Fort Wayne, Ind., man was arrested in Lawrence Monday morning on suspicion of using electronic communications to solicit sex involving a child.
The man was arrested at the Douglas County Jail about 11:50 a.m. and is being held on a $175,000 bond. The state law against electronic solicitation of sex with minors includes the use of email, text messaging and similar means of communication.
A conviction can carry as many as 54 years in prison, depending on how old the offender believes the child to be at the time of the offense.
The Journal-World usually doesn’t name suspects in sex crimes unless they are convicted.
