Free State girls rock Shawnee Mission North, 62-33

? Abbey Casady and Kennedy Kirkpatrick scored 13 points apiece, and Free State High’s girls basketball team defeated Shawnee Mission North, 62-33, on Thursday night for its sixth straight victory.

After leading 29-17 at halftime, the Firebirds broke the game open by outscoring North 24-3 in the third quarter. That put FSHS ahead 53-20.

“We played a solid game and had a great third quarter,” Free State coach Bryan Duncan said.

The Firebirds’ Scout Wiebe scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds, Millie Shade and Chelsea Casady scored eight points apiece, and Abbey Casady and Kirkpatrick each handed out seven assists.

The Firebirds (11-3) will play host to Leavenworth at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
