A 70-year-old Jefferson County man has been charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The man is from the Grantville area and was arrested on July 31, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office did not release more details about the case because the alleged victim is a juvenile. Jefferson County Attorney Jason Belveal said the man is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

The man is in the Jefferson County Jail with a cash-only bond set at $10,000. If convicted on the single count of aggravated indecent liberties, the man could face a prison sentence of 25 years to life.
