Free State girls track wins meet at Topeka Seaman

— Free State High’s girls track team totaled 96 points for a resounding first place at Friday’s Topeka Seaman Relays.

Lawrence High’s girls team placed third with 60 points. Runner-up Shawnee Mission North finished with 63.

Taking first place in events for the Firebirds were: Scout Wiebe (javelin), Alexa Harmon-Thomas (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and the 4x400 relay team.

Rebecca Finley led the Lions girls as runner-up in discus.

The FSHS track team tied for eighth place on the boys side. The Firebirds and Shawnee Mission South collected 45.5 points apiece. Manhattan took the meet title with 73.
