Kansas River bridges reopened, but to be narrowed to single lane again Wednesday

The twin U.S. 40 bridges over the Kansas River just north of downtown Lawrence will be narrowed to one lane again Wednesday.

According to a Kansas Department of Transportation press release, even though the bridges were fully opened on Friday, repair work will resume again on Wednesday after the morning rush hour and continue for the following two weeks. Work will be suspended May 13 through 17 while crews await the delivery of bridge parts. During that time the bridge will be fully reopened.

According the the press release, signage and cones will direct traffic through the work zone. Updates on the bridge repairs can be found on the DOT website, www.ksdot.org/topekametro/laneclose.asp.
