The 2013 Week of the Young Child is April 14-20. This annual event focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. This year, Child Care Aware of Northeast & North Central Kansas will work with other community supporters to display 5,860 multi-colored flags, each about 20 inches high, on the corner of 27th and Iowa. Each flag will represent a child cared for in a child care program in Lawrence.

Research has proven what happens in a child’s earliest years matters, and high-quality child care options are a terrific investment in our community, state and nation.
