Free State softball splits doubleheader

— Remington Samuels went 5-for-6 on the day, Meredith Morris picked up a victory, and Free State High’s softball team split a doubleheader Tuesday with Olathe South.

The Firebirds won the opener, 6-3, and dropped the second game, 3-2.

“Olathe South was state runner-up last year, so it was a pretty good win for us,” FSHS coach Lee Ice said.

The Firebirds (3-1) will host with Leavenworth on Thursday.
