Undead to take over downtown during Zombie Walk Thursday

The undead will again invade downtown Lawrence during the sixth annual Zombie Walk.

The good news is, they’re not as bloodthirsty as they look. They’re actually just raising money for the Lawrence Humane Society and Arc of Douglas County.

The all-ages walk, which organizers say grew to about 850 participants last year, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Zombies will gather at the South Park Gazebo, 1141 Mass., and start walking after sunset, about 7 p.m. Shirts will be available for a minimum donation of $15.

For more details and zombie etiquette guidelines (shamble away but pick up the pace to cross streets, don’t scare children, don’t leave bloody handprints, etc.), visit lawrencezombiewalk.com.

Also, the Lawrence Public Library is playing host to a Zombie Clinic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the library auditorium, 707 Vt. The clinic will feature hair and makeup stations staffed by Z Hair Academy and volunteers, thrifted clothing, tutorials on how to zombie shuffle, snacks and a Kensington Gore booth.

The clinic is for ages 7 and older, and unaccompanied minors need a signed permission form from parents to receive hair and makeup application, available online at www.lawrence.lib.ks.us.
