About 20 candidates have indicated they will participate in Saturday’s Candidate Fair sponsored by the local Voter Education Coalition. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lawrence Visitors Center, 402 N. Second St.
Attendees will include candidates for Kansas House and Senate seats, the Douglas County Commission, the State Board of Education and the 2nd District congressional seat. No formal presentations are planned, but candidates will be available to meet the public and distribute campaign materials.
A number of unopposed county candidates also will attend to meet constituents and share information about their offices.
The League of Women Voters of Lawrence/Douglas County will be conducting voter registration and will be available to answer questions about voting districts.
