Olathe — The Free State gymnastics team took first place overall in the team competition on Wednesday at the Olathe East Invitational.
Lawrence High placed seventh.
The Firebirds were led by first-place finishes from Grace Bartle (floor, bars) and Carrie Howland (vault). Bartle also took second place in the all-around and beam.
LHS and FSHS will compete next on Oct. 6 at the Newton Invitational.
