Four more former Lions will join the ranks of Lawrence High School’s hall of honor next week.
The Lawrence Lions Alumni Association will have its 18th annual recognition ceremony at 2 p.m. next Sunday in the rotunda of the school, 1901 La. The group honors alumni of Lawrence High School or Liberty Memorial High School (now Liberty Memorial Central Middle School) every year. With 75 people in the hall of honor so far, this will be the first year all of the new members are expected to be at the ceremony, said Patty Kennedy, chairwoman of the hall of honor committee of the alumni association.
This year’s inductees are:
• Robert Flannery, class of 1965: president of the Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Inter-religious Officers, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, Ill.
• Andrew Godwin, class of 1977: associate director of translational research at the Kansas University Cancer Center, former leader of the Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.
• Bart Ehrman, class of 1973: author and James A. Gray Distinguished Professor and chair of the department of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
• Idan Ginsburg, class of 1994: hypervelocity star researcher and physics and astronomy graduate student at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
