A 25-year-old Lawrence woman pleaded guilty Friday in Douglas County District Court to one count of aggravated battery stemming from a New Year’s Day assault at Burrito King, 900 Ill.

April Jones, one of two defendants in the case, pleaded guilty as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who reduced the charge from a level-four crime to a level-seven crime. Jones was accused of assaulting a woman in the drive-through lane, and the victim was taken to the hospital. Lawyers for both sides said they expected Jones to receive probation in the case. Sentencing in the case is set for Nov. 9. The case against the other defendant, Kristin E. Silva, 29, is pending. Silva also is charged with aggravated battery.
