"No visible sign" of a derailed train? What is it, a ghost train?
Pitt_Mackeson 8 months ago
Sounds like they got the engine or car back on the railway in 10 minutes. Now that's snappy fixin'!

Why was my comment removed? I was probably the first to report that horribly insensitive previous comment.

The offending comment gets removed as well as all replies to it. That's just the way it works.

Also, I would in no way consider 7th & New York "northeast" Lawrence. It is just East Lawrence, or even Downtown.

I agree, guppypunkhead. Thanks! -Caroline Trowbridge, community editor

It's tough to call it "northeast" when it's south of the river. But then again, I don't think north Lawrence is wide enough to have an "east" and "west" part. "East Lawrence" is certainly more accurate than "downtown"... but it's west of Haskell... OH GOD WHAT ARE WE GONNA CALL IT

I misspelled rude and decided the heck with it and edited out all but the period, since I couldn't delete my entire posting. CT figured that was what I was up to.
There were good reasons to delete those comments. I think the message we need to take here is stop the rudeness.

Yo, bull - did you bother to READ the article??? This is a different story than the one about the woman who died.
But then, maybe your neighbors don't actually have ALL the information, but hey, it is free.

Hadn't seen so many comments whacked on a thread in ages. Somebody PM me & let me know what was so dreadful. Inquiring minds want to know....

There's derailments of trains moving on the mainline which do lots of damage and then there's slow yard derailments which with competent carmen and their re-railing frogs are cleaned up in a short time.

"Competent Carmen" ... she was my first.

What in the sam hill was going on here all day? And what family is benefiting from dawndy's "thoughts and prayers," the Thomas the Tank Engine clan? The Little Engine That Could's cuzins?
This was a noninjury train derailment (apparently not even the train was injured). How this article inspired countless overheated comments and bleats about free speech I have no idea. I'm sorry I missed the action--it must have been quite lively for a while there.
