Libya answers

To the editor:

Columnist Trudy Rubin asks the same question Secretary Clinton asked, “How could this happen in Libya?” She then gives the State Department response. But Miss Rubin misses three reasons.

First, the men who killed our ambassador are wicked, and they hate us and all things and people American. Until the State Department admits this, they will continue to make bad decisions about Islamic terrorists.

Second, the administration is weak. Bowing to Arab heads of state, setting withdrawal deadlines, and apologizing for America around the world is quite properly seen as weakness. Why should terrorists fear us?

Third, the president has made himself a target. For domestic political reasons he bragged about selecting targets for drone attacks and boasted of killing Osama Bin Laden.

It’s not a video about the prophet. It’s the drifting and weak foreign policy of this administration that produced the successful attacks in Libya and elsewhere. Yet more reasons for change in November.

Let me add, having moved from Arkansas recently to this area due to a promotion, I have stayed in touch with good friends---good sensible middle-of-the-road couples with kids and they are telling me they are seriously preparing for an apocalypse. These are not religious nuts either--just regular working class people. Is it close and how close? We have suffered terribly at the hands of Obama and those in his close service.

Saw a short clip of Ryan Crocker stating that all the unrest in the middle east is just the "tip of the iceberg" and hinted at now we have some of the weakest foreign policy in modern history. Scary words. We have a president who needs to be replaced by someone with a sense of leadership. Romney has shown to be a great leader, like saving the SLC olympics and his business skills, but can he do it in the whitehouse? Time is running out for saving ourselves. Who can do it?

In the current NBC/WSJ poll, only 41% of independents approve of Obama's foreign-policy handling, versus 53% who did so last month. http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/09/18/13944296-nbcwsj-poll-obamas-approval-on-foreign-policy-drops?lite

Obama, the son of a Muslim, raised by Muslims, a designated Peace Prize Laureate, is the only answer to peace in the middle east. If he can't do it no one can.

This started a long time ago......

In the late 1700's not long after achieving Independence, Barbary Coast Muslim (Tripoli, Libya) Pirates raided our ships, enslaved our sailors, held the ships for ransom. Like today, the leaders of America in the late 1700’s tried to settle the piracy issue through diplomacy. As such, two American diplomats, Thomas Jefferson, then the American ambassador to France, and John Adams, the American ambassador to Britain, were dispatched to London in 1786 in an attempt to resolve the piracy issue. They met with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the “Dey of Algiers” ambassador to Britain. It was during that meeting in London when Jefferson asked the Muslim ambassador why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation they had virtually no contact with at that time.

The answer is as relevant today as it was in 1786 – perhaps even more so. Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja stated:

“Islam was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in the Qur’an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged Islam's authority are sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

This will NEVER end as long as Islam is a "religion" on this earth....or until Islam controls every square inch.

When the Libs and their hero Billary figure out Muslims hate the West and all its citizens then maybe they will understand how to deal with them. They are still clinging to using 'Time-Outs' as their best weapon when dealing with Muslim Terrorists. So far they are clueless and it's costing us American lives. Billary's pet Muslim, Huma is the mole we need to get rid of. www.nationalreview.com/.../huma-abedi...>

Your third point is a bit unfair. I read Richard Clarke's excellent book and he noted that there was no "proof or specificity" regarding an imminent al Qaeda attack during the summer of 2001. I also note that the Clinton admin also failed to stop numerous al Qaeda attacks, even when it had prior warning, such as the bombing of our embassies in Africa in 1998.

First: You people are the American version of these radicals and until we put a lid on you the dissent in the region will only worsen. They are upset at us for our policies that favor us at their expense. If you can't figure out the problem, you can't find a solution. Thank God Obama has figured out the problems and his policies will lead to better relations in the regions.

Second: Nothing in your narrative has a shred of truth. You are simply parroting the propaganda that the right wing radicals have spent billions of dollars promoting. It works on you. All you can come up with to support your ridiculous comment is this propaganda. zero facts.

Third: I know you and your type have selective amnesia but where was your outrage at all the Bush regime when intelligence all but laid the entire 911 attack in his lap and he was still to stupid (or was it his hidden agenda) to prevent the attacks. You would think with all the manufactured lies and outrage you now direct at Obama over libya that 3000 americans must have been killed.

The Bush regimes entire existence was scaring people into thinking that the regime that allowed the worst attack on US soil in history were the only people who could protect us. His entire campaign was was based on lies about this. Now , you accuse Obama, who has a far better record of protecting us, of being weak because acknoeledges , not brags, about what he has actually done to protect us. The lte is nothing but radical americans doing their imitation radical muslims are doing.
