Air Force honors Lions football duo for play

A big Friday night for Lawrence High football seniors Brad Strauss and Will Thompson earned the Lions duo a nomination for the U.S. Air Force’s Precision Air Strike of the Week.

Quarterback Strauss threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2 at Shawnee Mission Northwest, leading LHS to a 42-13 win. One of those scores through the air came on a 20-yard pass to receiver Thompson, who racked up 105 receiving yards.

Each week the best passing combinations in Kansas high school football are nominated for the Precision Air Strike award.

Fans can vote for their favorites until Thursday night at www.thesportsflash.com.

Strauss and Thompson are up against combinations from Derby, Dodge City, Hesston, Topeka and Wichita Collegiate.

This week’s winner will become a finalist for the U.S. Air Force’s Air Strike of the Year.
