Protect the planet

To the editor:

As I watched parts of the Republican Convention, I was sick to the stomach when I heard Mitt Romney ridicule and scorn President Obama for “wanting to heal the planet.” Our environment is our most precious resource. If you are a religious person or claim to know God, then you know we are bound to God by nature and bound to God by grace.

At this time we should receive no grace from God for what we are doing to our planet. We mindlessly cut rainforests, we drill and frack for oil, we scalp the beautiful Appalachian Mountains for coal. Our resources are here for us now, but what about our future? In my opinion we have only one clear choice for our planet.

We must let President Obama do the things he set out to do. Our economey needs our help. G.W. left him the biggest mess of the century. As President Clinton stated at the Democratic Convention, this mess is far too big for just four years. And we may not pull out of it for another 10 years, but we have to cooperate, that means YOU, Republicans, and do what President Obama has set out to do. By continuing the tea party attitude, we have set our sites on destruction of our resources and our middle class. If we do not have a good environment, then we no longer have life.
