A person in a wheelchair was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Saturday afternoon after being hit by a car at 23rd and Alabama streets.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Craig Shanks said a car was turning onto 23rd Street at about 12:30 p.m. when it hit the victim. The person who was hit was believed to have minor injuries, Shanks said. He said he did not know the gender or age of either person involved as of later Saturday afternoon.

Police cited the driver for not having proof of insurance and inattentive driving.
