Trail Spears and Ryan Liston combined for a 1-2 finish as the Free State boys cross country team won the three-team Haskell Invitational on Saturday at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Spears led the Firebirds with a 5K time of 16:48 and, including Liston (16:54), was one of four FSHS runners in the top 10. Free State beat out runner-up Olathe East and third-place Shawnee Mission East.

Bailey Sullivan paced the Free State girls team with a third-place time of 15:29 in the 4K. The Firebirds took second as a team after champion Olathe East.

FSHS will compete at the Sunflower League meet on Saturday at Rim Rock Farm.
