To the editor:
About a month ago, after taking my children to the library, I loaded all five of them into the van, folded up the stroller, and headed for home. Two hours later, I received a call from a woman named Tanya at the Lawrence Parking Department telling me she had found my wallet. That is when I remembered my wallet had been on top of the stroller and must have fallen on the ground when I folded it up. Tanya had not only found my wallet with everything still inside, but also offered to return it to my house. I am forever grateful. Thank you again Tanya, you went above and beyond.

"Tanya at the Lawrence Parking Department telling me she had found my wallet. ... you went above and beyond."
Tanya's generosity is well known. She gave me a $100 parking ticket. ;-)
Seriously, it is nice to hear of an honest and kind act.

Last time I found a wallet and tried to return it, the person accused me of stealing it. I haven't found one since then, not sure what I will do next time.

Clearly you should keep that next person's wallet in order to punish the previous person for falsely accusing you. It only makes sense, doesn't it?

Back in the late 80s, my mother left her wallet with everything in it on the bumper while loading up groceries on the Oregon coast, halfway through a 4-week road trip. When we arrived home, it was with everything else in her collection of held mail.
Consumer1, just drop it in the mail! It might cost a couple bucks, but at least you've done the right thing, and could even do it anonymously.
