Traffic delays expected on East 23rd Street

Traffic delays are expected for much of Wednesday near the 23rd Street bridge project in eastern Lawrence.

Both the east and westbound shoofly detours will be reduced to one lane on the bridge project between Haskell and Barker avenues.

Kansas Department of Transportation officials said the lane reductions will begin before the early-morning rush hour and are expected to last into early evening.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to move onto the new bridge by late October, at which point the shoofly detour roads around the bridge will be removed.
