A preliminary breath test taken at the scene of a car and train collision Sept. 17 shows the driver of the car had a blood-alcohol level of .146, nearly twice the legal limit.

The Ford Focus driven by Zaw Dabaw, 22, Lawrence, got stuck on the railroad track at the intersection of North Seventh and Maple streets just after 11 p.m. on Sept. 17. Dabaw, and four other passengers, got out of the car before a Union Pacific train struck it, according to an accident report.

No one was injured during the incident, in which the car was pushed more than 300 yards from the spot of impact.

It remains unclear how Dabaw got stuck on the tracks. The responding officer noted that the car was turned sideways on the tracks when it got stuck. However, Dabaw couldn’t explain how that happened, according to the report.

Dabaw was issued a citation for operating under the influence following the incident.
